Development: Burnley is preparing to contact Kompany about signing a new £20 million “dangerous” player

According to reports, Burnley is preparing a move to recruit a “dangerous” £20 million player, but they are not the only Premier League team interested.

Prior to their return to the top division, the Clarets and Vincent Kompany didn’t play about in the previous transfer window, bringing in a massive 15 players.

On the field, though, things haven’t quite gone as expected for the team; they have only won one of their eight games and are currently in the relegation zone ahead of their trip to Brentford. Despite the influx of players in the summer, Kompany’s team has struggled to score goals as well, managing just seven in the league.

Nonetheless, Jack Clarke of Sunderland is one player who hasn’t had much trouble scoring this season. The winger has scored seven goals for himself in the Championship thus far, and Burnley rejected a £10 million offer for him in the summer.

According to recent reports, the Clarets are still interested in the 22-year-old. However, a new transfer update from Burnley indicates that the team is prepared to renew their pursuit of the player.

Burnley is reportedly planning a January move for Clarke, who Sunderland believes is worth £20 million, according to TEAMtalk. But while Bournemouth, Brentford, and Wolves are keeping an eye on the attacker, Brighton and Crystal Palace are prepared to do the same.

How excellent is Jack Clarke?

After a forgettable stint at Tottenham, Clarke, who made his debut with Leeds United as a teenager, seems to be regaining his footing in his career. Before completing a permanent transfer to The Stadium of Light, he played just four senior games for Spurs. In 82 games across all competitions, he scored 19 goals and provided 18 assists. Journalist Josh Bunting has praised Clarke as a “dangerous” talent, and his manager Tony Mowbray recently said the following:

“He was incredible tonight. He earned the penalty, scored two excellent goals, and stuck it in, demonstrating his level of confidence in both his ability to take the penalty and his level of poise in scoring his second goal.

But not only the objective. The longer the game goes on, the more this team realizes that they should pass the ball to Clarke, who has the ability to shoot, cut inside, and run the ball 40 yards up the pitch.

“I don’t regret yelling at him and telling him to work hard because all the best players work harder than anybody else and their talent shows through. He’s a great kid with a lot of talent.”

Given that Burnley and Kompany seem to have been longtime fans of the player, a deal could once more be worth keeping an eye on in the coming year.
