After six years with the Detroit Lions, safety Tracy Walker is scheduled to sign with the team that eliminated them from the playoffs in 2023.

According to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, the San Francisco 49ers want to sign Walker. The agreement is scheduled to be made official on Thursday.

Walker, a former third-round choice of the Lions in 2018, has spent the first six seasons of his career with Detroit, participating in 79 games (43 starts). In that time, the 29-year-old rose through the ranks to become a starter and was chosen team captain.

However, Walker sustained a torn Achilles in 2022, which terminated his season early, and he lost his starting spot in 2023. He played sparingly down the stretch of the regular season and was a healthy scratch in the playoffs. The Lions released him earlier this summer.

Walker will not attempt to carve out a role for himself in San Francisco.
