The Detroit Lions have acquired some needed depth at cornerback ahead of the final day of training camp by signing Rachad Wildgoose as a free agent.

Wildgoose, a sixth-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2021, has essentially no chance of making the squad. However, he has appeared in 20 NFL games and will give some short-term respite for the injury-plagued cornerback position.

Emmanuel Moseley is already out indefinitely and may not return until the playoffs due to a pectoral ailment, while first-round pick Terrion Arnold has missed the last week due to his own pectoral issue. Arnold is slated to return next week, but with Carlton Davis and Ennis Rakestraw both limited in their recent comeback from injury, Detroit needed an extra body to get through the final week of preseason. Detroit concludes exhibition play on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
