Detroit Lions Divisional Round Injury Update for Thursday

The Detroit Lions hope to go to the NFC Championship Game for the second time in franchise history.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers stand in their way. Kalif Raymond, a wide receiver, was not present for the media portion of Thursday’s practice. Center Frank Ragnow, who was not listed as a participant in Wednesday’s walkthrough, returned to practice. Outside linebacker James Houston was activated, and Julian Okwara was dismissed.

Both the Lions and the Buccaneers have changed since their previous meeting in Week 6. Nickel cornerback Brian Branch was among those who did not play in the game. Now, the rookie defender is back in action and anticipated to play an important part in Sunday’s game. “Listen, we admire Will, but we know what Branch brings to the table. Glenn remarked, “He’s tough, gritty, and very knowledgeable.” “He does a good job at that nickel spot of understanding exactly how he has to disguise to put himself in a position to go make plays.” Branch missed two games earlier in the season but has had a good rookie season. In 15 games, he made 74 tackles, seven for loss, and three interceptions.

Glenn is looking forward to seeing what the youngster can perform under the spotlight in Sunday’s game. “We’re looking forward to him being out there this game and he’s looking forward to being out there this game because he hates missing games and he wants to play against this team because of the nature of this game and who they have,” Glenn went on to say. “So his ability to cover receivers is fairly excellent as well. Listen, he ran whatever time at the combine. When you watch him cover guys, you can never tell because he’s so sticky.”
