Detroit Lions Announce Changes to Their NFC Championship Roster

Before facing the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game, the Detroit Lions made two announcements on the elevation of members of their practice squad.

For the game on Sunday, offensive lineman Michael Schofield and fullback Jason Cabinda have been promoted from the practice squad. Since he was upgraded for the team’s Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers, Schofield has only appeared in one game with the Lions. The ten-year veteran attended Michigan for his college career.

The Lions tried to swiftly accustom Zach Ertz to the offense, but he was not elevated. On Monday, he became a member of the team’s practice squad.

In both the regular season finale and every postseason game, Cabinda has been an improvement. He was on the active roster at the start of the season, but he was placed on injured reserve until Week 17 due to a knee injury. Before the team’s game versus Dallas, he was activated from injured reserve (IR), but he was waived the next day. The week after he resigned from the Lions, he was added to the practice squad.

Before this one, the Lions had only attended one NFC Championship game in their existence. There has been an increased degree of emotion surrounding the game as a result. But before the game, head coach Dan Campbell has not even tried to control his team. Campbell remarked, “I do not want to pull them back.” “I am not going to take them back. No, we are leaving. We are leaving. They will adapt quickly, but we are entering. We will be prepared.
