Deshaun Watson got angry by fans who wished Joe Flacco to return to Cleveland

Deshaun Watson is unquestionably the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback.

Deshaun Watson signed a five-year contract worth 230 million dollars guaranteed with the Cleveland Browns in March 2022, and after two seasons, Watson hasn’t done anything to justify that money.

Deshaun Watson’s Injury Led To Joe Flacco Love

Watson has only played in 12 games over the last two seasons because he was suspended for eleven games in 2022, suffered a shoulder injury that limited him to six starts last season, and was shut down for the season in mid-November.

While Watson was out for the season, the Browns relied on veteran quarterback Joe Flacco. Flacco helped the squad make the playoffs and instantly became a fan favorite.

Flacco went 4-1 in the regular season, and they lost to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, but without Flacco, the Browns would not have made the playoffs.

Watson Was Not Happy With Browns Fans That Wanted Flacco Back

The 39-year-old quarterback approached free agency this year, and many supporters hoped to see Flacco return as Watson’s backup. The Browns, however, did not offer Flacco a deal and instead hired Jameis Winston, the backup quarterback for the New Orleans Saints.

Flacco signed with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday night, prompting many Browns supporters to express their gratitude on social media. Some even hoped he had returned to them, and Deshaun Watson was not pleased with the fans’ desire to see Flacco back in Cleveland.

Watson blocked numerous Cleveland Browns supporters on X who made any mention of Flacco.

Fans began to run to X in response to Watson’s obstruction of fans, and fans from opposing teams joined in. A Cincinnati Bengals fan expressed his disbelief that Watson would block his fans, and all Bengals fans are quite grateful. They have the number nine, which refers to Joe Burrow.

It is not the first time Watson has blocked his supporters. In September 2023, he began barring supporters who complained about how poorly he played.

Dear @deshaunwatson,
Why are you out here blocking twitter accounts. Didn’t you admit you played poorly and need to be better. So why the blocking of fair criticism.

Better yet…don’t worry about social media. We need to get better on offense and some people evaluate your play…

Watson Knows He Has To Play Better, And It’s Getting To Him

Watson has been sensitive since he arrived in Cleveland, and much of that can be attributed to the sexual assault allegations that resulted in his eleven-game suspension, as well as his dismal play during his first two seasons.

The Browns gave up a lot to get Watson and paid him a lot of money, as Watson is aware. I’m sure it gets to his head at times because he hasn’t lived up to the promise yet, and he watches someone like Patrick Mahomes winning Super Bowls, while Watson was once thought to be his Peyton Manning. In the AFC, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning went back and forth, and Mahomes and Deshaun Watson were meant to do the same around 2018, but Watson never did.

Hopefully, Watson can turn things around in 2024, or it will be a difficult time for him on social media since if you thought blocking a few fans over wanting Flacco back was bad, wait till he plays terribly again.
