According to fresh study, Derby County’s transfer window has increased the value of their squad by £9 million.
Grosvenor Casino gathered squad valuation statistics from Transfermarkt to determine winners and losers. Data timelines ranged from June 15, 2024, the first day clubs may do business, to September 1, when the window closed.
The figures were then divided by each other to yield a +/- percentage, indicating whether clubs’ teams had increased or decreased in value. Derby were considered one of the division’s greatest winners as a result of their business, which included the addition of 11 players to the squad.
And it has brought with it a significant boost in transfer value estimation, with Derby’s team valued at £19,167,256 million. That is a 90% rise over what it was at the beginning of the window, which was £10,068,07 million.
Derby paid a seven-figure price for goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom from Djugarden this summer, as well as fees for Ebou Adams and Kenzo Goudmijn from Cardiff and AZ Alkmaar, respectively.
They were joined by free transfer signings Kayden Jackson and Ben Osborn, while Derby also used the loan market to bring in Nat Phillips (Liverpool), Marcus Harness (Ipswich), David Ozoh (Crystal Palace), Jerry Yates (Swansea), and Tawanda Chirewa (Wolves).
Compared to the rest of the division, freshly promoted Oxford United (128%) and Sheffield Wednesday (116%) saw their squad market values climb by the most amount in the Championship.
Burnley’s squad worth fell by 25%, the largest loss in the Championship, followed by relegated Sheffield United (-24%). Burnley were also the Championship’s highest spenders, at £48 million. The Clarets’ team had a dramatic turnover during the summer window, with 23 new arrivals and 28 departures.
