Derby County manager Paul Warne has announced that Callum Elder will be out for the next ‘three of four’ games.

Derby County’s left-back suffered a groin injury and was forced to leave their previous game away to Sheffield United. They fell 1-0 against the Blades at Bramall Lane.

Elder, 29, has appeared in six Championship games for the Rams this season but is now expected to miss some time. He is certain to miss the next few games against Norwich City, Sunderland, and QPR.

Following the next international break next month, they will travel to The Den to face Millwall. In the most recent update on the player’s fitness, Warne stated, according to the official club website, “He’s doing well but he’ll be out for a little while – he’s tweaked his groin. He will not take part in the next three or four games.”

In regards of Kane Wilson and Jake Rooney, the manager stated, “Kane Wilson is fine; he could have been in the squad last week.” Jake Rooney will be back on the grass today.”

Derby County injury latest

Derby County will have to do without Elder for the next few weeks.

Craig Forsyth, an experienced player, appears to be the best candidate to replace him.

The Rams signed the Australia international, who has one cap for his country, in June last year on a three-year contract that runs until June 2026, to bolster their defensive unit.

He has now played 33 games for the club, helping them achieve promotion from League One alongside Portsmouth and Oxford United last season.

Elder came to England at the age of 16 and joined Leicester City. He never made a senior appearance for the Foxes, but was loaned out to Mansfield Town, Peterborough United, Brentford, Barnsley, Wigan Athletic, and Ipswich Town.

Hull City signed him on a permanent basis in 2019, and he played 137 games for the Tigers over his four-year tenure.

Elder is now out for Derby County until next month, which is not ideal.

This weekend, they face Norwich City at home.
