Derby County has re-signed Ebou Adams from Cardiff City for an unknown amount after the midfielder helped the Rams win promotion from League One last season.

The 28-year-old Gambia international joins Pride Park on a three-year contract after appearing 17 times on loan for Paul Warne’s side last season, when they became runners-up in the third division and qualified for the Championship.

Adams was a key figure in the Rams’ campaign for promotion after the turn of the year, with the team winning 11 and losing only three of the games he played in.

Adams’ two-year spell with Cardiff, during which he made only 13 appearances in all competitions, comes to an end with his permanent move to Derby.

All of those games came in the first half of last season, with a tendon rupture and knee ailment forcing him to wait a year for his competitive debut for the Bluebirds after coming from Forest Green in the summer of 2022.

Due to injuries, the former Dartford and Ebbsfleet midfielder has only made 11 games in the second division, having spent the majority of his career in non-league and League Two.

He was on the books at Norwich earlier in his career, but he never made a senior appearance for the club because he spent the most of his time there on loan.

Adams has been a big goal for Warne since Derby’s return to the Championship after a two-year sabbatical, and he has already joined the Rams for their pre-season training in Spain.
