Deal completed for Birmingham City’s replacement of John Eustace.

According to reports, Wayne Rooney will join Birmingham City and take John Eustace’s place at St. Andrew’s.

The Blues have had a strong start to the Sky Bet Championship season, and Eustace has garnered praise for his efforts at the club.

In fact, because of the success Blues have had, rumors about his future have been rife, and it’s entirely possible he will soon start working at another company.

However, it is clear that Blues have been searching for a replacement for him, and it appears that they have found one in the form of former Derby County manager Wayne Rooney.

DC United loses Wayne Rooney

The former Manchester United forward was most recently employed by DC United in the United States, but he recently severed ways with the team and is returning to the UK.

CEO and Co-Chairman of DC United Jason Levien issued the following statement:

“After speaking with Wayne, we determined that parting ways now is for the best.

“This decision opens the door for our future General Manager to fully implant a new philosophy and structure into our sporting activities, beginning with the crucial identification of a Head Coach who will best line with this, since this will be the next step in the process.

“Wayne Rooney has done a lot for our team and soccer in the nation’s capital, first as a player and captain of D.C. United and most recently as our coach.

“He remains an important part of the D.C. United family and a valued and cherished friend.”

‘Done’ with Wayne Rooney moving to Birmingham

Rooney’s final position as manager in England was at Derby County, where he received praise for the Rams’ accomplishments despite extremely challenging conditions and the club’s uncertain future.

Birmingham is less chaotic now that players like Tom Brady have joined the team, and he will undoubtedly be excited about the prospect of building on Eustace’s achievements as the Blues aim for some years of sustained stability and growth rather than some of the recent eccentric behavior.

Eustace’s specific destination is still up in the air, but he currently has a number of suitors and will be hoping that wherever he settles, his stock will only continue to climb.

The work he did at the Midlands club will also be acknowledged, and it now seems that the Rooney era is about to start in the blue half of the Second City.
