West Ham have agreed in principle with Julen Lopetegui to succeed David Moyes as manager.

Lopetegui, 57, has been out of employment since leaving Wolves three days before the season began, but has remained in England in the hopes of finding another position in the Premier League.

The Spaniard, who has previously coached Porto, Spain, Real Madrid, and Sevilla, is likely to take over at the London Stadium at the end of the season, following Moyes’ projected exit.

West Ham sit ninth in the league following Sunday’s 5-0 loss against Chelsea.

The Scot, who has been out of communication since the summer, has faced heightened speculation about his future as West Ham have only won one of their last nine league games.
