Darren Moore “wipes the slate clean,” and the players of Huddersfield Town take on new challenges.

Huddersfield Town boss Darren Moore is expected to make personnel changes to his starting line-up for Saturday’s Yorkshire derby against his former club Sheffield Wednesday

There are always big winners and losers when there is a managerial change at a football club. It is inevitable some players will get more game time than others.

It is still very early days in the Darren Moore era, but the Huddersfield Town boss has wiped the slate clean. Individuals that were perhaps out of the picture under Neil Warnock will now be given an opportunity to stake a claim.

There have been calls in some quarters for Kian Harratt to be handed a start in Saturday’s intriguing Yorkshire derby at Sheffield Wednesday. The young striker has featured three times off the bench since Moore’s arrival.

But Moore decided to go without a recognised centre-forward in their 4-1 thumping at Birmingham City in midweek. He paired Sorba Thomas and Delano Burgzorg together up front. Burgzorg was withdrawn at half-time and his replacement, Josh Koroma, struggled to make an impact.

Strikers Harratt and Kyle Hudlin may come into Moore’s thoughts for the trip to Hillsborough as Town aim to sign off before the international break on a positive note. Wholesale changes could be on the cards after their below-par showing against the Blues.

“The slate is clean with all the group and the players in terms of the run of games coming up,” said Moore. “Everyone will get used. I will get to see all the players.

“We will evaluate the Birmingham performance and the position of certain players. Sometimes in defeats you can learn a lot and we have learned a lot from Birmingham. We continue to build.

“We will learn from it and we will move on. We suffer together as a group and we quickly apply it because we’ve got a quick turnaround.”
