Darren Moore applauds the strong message that Huddersfield Town and the EFL have sent

This weekend, the EFL will emphasize their Together Against Racism campaign and raise awareness of the need to combat racial abuse, emphasizing that discrimination has no place in the game.

Huddersfield Town has issued a fresh appeal to Terriers supporters, asking them to report any instances of inappropriate behavior they witness at football stadiums and on social media in order to support the battle against racism and discrimination.

Regretfully, there are still events like these in the game; hundreds of reports of them are made annually across all game levels, but many more go unreported.

Town left-back Jaheim Headley was targeted online earlier this season, while former Town midfielder Juninho Bacuna had a comment directed at him by a fan of his current club, Birmingham City, during the Terriers’ recent trip to St Andrew’s.

The EFL is highlighting their Together Against Racism campaign throughout all of the games this weekend, including Queens Park Rangers’ visit to Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon, in an effort to raise awareness of the problem.

“The attention will be ongoing,” manager Darren Moore stated at his pre-match press conference. The wonderful thing about this is that, not just as a football team but as a society at large, we are working to end racial abuse in all of its manifestations, which can take many different shapes.

“What we do is unite as a group to eradicate it, and the wonderful thing about it is that we can all take action and are already taking action. It need not be on a football field; it might be anywhere—in your neighborhood, around the stadium, or outside—and it could appear at any time. However, you are capable of standing up for what is right.

“So this weekend with the EFL promoting that, not just us at Huddersfield Town, we stand with everybody right across the football fraternity in terms of stamping out and setting the message clearly, which is which is great to see.”

“As a club, we are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion through our Terriers Together work. We recently achieved the Premier League Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Advanced Standard – the first side to do so while being part of the EFL,” a statement from the Huddersfield Town organization continued.

“We work with our Huddersfield Town Foundation to deliver an exhibition raising awareness of Islamophobia Awareness Month on Wednesday, November 1 at the John Smith’s Stadium. We are committed to the EFL Together Against Racism Campaign and celebrate Black History Month every October. To learn more about the event and how you can participate, click this link!

How to report prejudice on social media or during game days

Supporters should report any instances of discrimination, harassment, or abuse they witness or experience on matchday to the closest steward or by calling the club’s “Tackle and Text” complaint line at 07741 528 949. The safety staff assigned to match day will review the text and conduct an investigation using security camera remote monitoring, steward intervention, or direct observation.

The Tackle and Text number can also be used to set up a private conversation between a fan and a member of the safety staff outside of the scene of the event. A message will be sent back to anyone who uses this number to report an event.

In addition, matchday events can be reported to supporterservices@htafc.com for further investigation following the game, as can any social media issues involving Town players, staff, or supporters that should be reported along with any pertinent information and screenshots.
