Darren Bent has predicted Leeds United and Ipswich Town promotion stands

Darren Bent believes Leeds United and Ipswich Town will achieve automatic promotion to the Premier League this season.

Leicester City are now top of the Championship, as they have been for most of the season, but Bent believes they will slide into the play-offs.

Leeds have been in excellent form since the beginning of 2024 and can overtake Leicester at the top with a two-goal victory over Millwall this weekend.

Former Ipswich striker Bent claimed on talkSPORT Drive [15 March, 5:01pm] that he believes Ipswich and Leeds will finish in the top two places. Leicester will advance via the play-offs.

Leeds United hot on Leicester City’s heels in Championship title race

Leicester have led the division for 26 of the 38 matchdays this season, but they are still not assured of automatic promotion.

From being in a league of their own a month or so ago to now looking over their shoulders, City has had quite a wobble.

The Foxes have only taken four points out of the last 15, although they were nearly perfect up to that point.

The timing of this loss of form results in a completely different narrative. If they do not finish the task from here, they will be labeled ‘bottlers’.

That’s harsh, but Leeds doesn’t care. Whether they finish first or second, they are not willing to settle for the play-offs.

The basic line is that two of Leicester, Leeds, Ipswich, and Southampton will have to go the hard way.

Leeds will simply be glad that they now have complete control over their fascinating quest to return to the Premier League.
