Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell says running back Jahmyr Gibbs and cornerback Terrion Arnold are “going to be fine” after leaving the field with injuries during training camp on Monday night.

The Lions selected the players from Alabama in the first round of the NFL Draft in successive years, with Gibbs 12th in 2023 and Arnold 24th in 2024.

NFL teams are not compelled to disclose injury information during the preseason. According to reports, Gibbs injured his hamstring, while Arnold injured his pectoral.

“My phone blew up two days ago,” Campbell stated Wednesday during an interview on “Costa and Jansen with Heather” on Detroit’s WXYT-FM. “I got all these folks calling me up and saying, ‘Man, what happened to Gibbs! Oh, God, TA! It’s done. All of these reports are out. And I am like, ‘OK.’ So, I think we’ll be OK here, okay? “I think we’ll be fine.”

Gibbs made the Pro Bowl as a rookie after rushing for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns on 182 rushes and catching 52 catches for 316 yards and one touchdown in 15 regular-season games, helping Detroit reach the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991.

Gibbs did not play in the Lions’ preseason opener on Thursday night, but Arnold started in Detroit’s 14-3 loss to the Giants. Arnold appeared on the field for the New York offense’s first three possessions but did not collect any stats in 13 snaps.

The Lions started Ennis Rakestraw of Missouri, their 2024 second-round pick, at the other cornerback position against the Giants. Rakestraw also missed Monday night’s practice due to an ankle injury.

“TA’s been having a good camp before he got hurt the other day,” Campbell joked. “Ennis is having a good camp.”
