Damian Lillard confesses he has a “weird” outlook on playing the Blazers in person

The star player for the Milwaukee Bucks, Damian Lillard, played as an opponent for the first time in his career against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Before making his summertime move to Milwaukee, the seven-time All-Star played for the Bucks for eleven incredible years, so it should come as no surprise that there were a lot of emotions riding on Sunday’s game.

Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Vocal Speaks Out on Facing Former Team

Following the Bucks’ 108-102 victory, Lillard acknowledged that he had thought about paying his old teammates a visit in the other team’s locker room. Dame went on to say that being on the other side of the fence was undoubtedly “weird”:

“Once I walked in, I saw a lot of familiar faces,” he said. “I thought about going to the Blazers locker room for a second but I was like, ‘Man, this is a little bit different.’

“And then when we got on the court I saw everybody. It was a weird feeling. But once we started playing I kinda got over it quick.”

But once the game started, all the feelings subsided as was to be expected. Lillard gave it his all to defeat the Blazers, and as a result, the seven-time All-NBA guard turned in another excellent performance.

“Just like before, I didn’t think it would be a big thing or a crazy thing, and it wasn’t,” he continued. “I spoke to everybody, and one we started playing, it obviously wasn’t friendly. They jumped out and got a big lead on us. I’m just happy to be able to get the win.”

Dame shot 7 of 21 from the field, including 4 of 12 from beyond the arc, to finish with 31 points in the game. He was also an effective 13 of 14 from the free throw line and finished with five rebounds, four assists, two steals, and three turnovers.

Dame’s impressive play enabled the Bucks to pull off the biggest comeback of the year. They overcame a 26-point deficit to win, demonstrating once more that Milwaukee is not the kind to give up easily.
