Dallas Cowboys Owner Suggestions Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy Be Fired

Following their NFC East-clinching win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was noncommittal about keeping head coach Mike McCarthy.

The Cowboys defeated the Washington Commanders to earn the NFC’s second seed.

Next Sunday, they will face the Green Bay Packers. And the game against McCarthy’s former team could be the cause for his demise in Dallas.

Dallas Cowboys owner sends message to Mike McCarthy

Reporters queried Jones about McCarthy’s future with the Cowboys, according to Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Jones stated that he would wait and watch how “each game” in the playoffs played out.

Jones’ statement comes with another big weekend report. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cowboys would keep McCarthy if his team played well in the playoffs:

“There continues to be a feeling from people around the league, and even some within the Cowboys organization, that coach Mike McCarthy will be measured by how Dallas’ final game goes.

If the Cowboys play well in the postseason, McCarthy would have an excellent chance to keep his job. But if they struggle and end the season with an embarrassing loss, as has happened in each of the past two years, then some say that change could come to Dallas.”

Will the Green Bay Packers knock McCarthy out of a job again?

McCarthy and the Cowboys would be embarrassed if they lost to the Packers next Sunday. After a poor start to the season, the Packers crept into the playoffs. The Cowboys should be considered Super Bowl candidates.

Packers supporters, on the other hand, have seen this show before with McCarthy. McCarthy led the Packers to a 125-77-2 record as head coach. In the postseason, he went 10-8. They’re hardly horrible numbers, but the way the Packers lost postseason games with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers was so upsetting that they let him go after the 2018 season.

McCarthy, who had a 42-25 regular season record with the Cowboys, has a winning percentage (.621) with the Cowboys that is identical to his winning percentage (.618) with the Packers. However, his 1-2 postseason record with the Cowboys (two losses to the San Francisco 49ers) will not make Jones pleased in Dallas.

Will the Packers’ upset of the Cowboys in Dallas next week help McCarthy get fired twice?
