There are countless anxieties and phobias out there.

They’re usually quite plain and direct. Fear of heights, spiders, and claustrophobia are all common and reasonable. However, some of them are far more bizarre and appear to be beyond explanation. For example, are you afraid of… jewelry? Apparently, NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. is terrified of rings, bracelets, and earrings.

Earnhardt recently joined his wife Amy on an episode of the Dale Jr. Download podcast. There, they play a stupid game called ‘The Newlywed Game’ for the sake of good content. Then they talk about some of their deepest worries. It is not Dale’s idea to crash one of his NASCAR speed demons at 200 mph. Furthermore, it is not typical, such as bugs or whatever. No, he can’t tolerate jewelry.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Cringes at The Nauseous Idea of Wearing Real Jewelry

They clarify that it’s most likely just an ick. Something about the metallic contact makes Dale completely freak out. “It is basically disgust. “It’s mostly like, grossy nausea,” he explains. “The danglier, lighter, and smaller the item of jewelry, the more ick. It’s an ick.”

You would suppose that the metal is an issue because he has panic episodes in the cars he drives. However, this is not the same application. The compact form of metals in a car prevents him from experiencing excessive anxiety. “They’re not dangling and jingling,” Dale explains.

As a result, Amy enjoys teasing Dale. When he irritates her, she will especially wear jewelry. “Sometimes she goes out, and she goes out with her friends or whatever and she wears whatever she wants to wear, and she sometimes comes home and forgets she’s got it on,” Earnhardt, Jr. said. “I don’t say anything, but I am cringing inside. But then there are times when she wears jewelry, and my first reaction is, “What did I do?” What did I do to make her angry? I have done something. “I’m being punished.”
