Brittany Mahomes and Patrick Mahomes have had some cringe-worthy moments since they were high school sweethearts. 

In September 2019, Brittany uploaded a flashback photo of the two in their high school cafeteria. The future Kansas City Chiefs standout wore a football shirt while Brittany stood behind him and used her hand to make him grin. “Im glad you loved me through the glitter eyeshadow days,” she commented on X, formerly Twitter, with the TBT. Years later, the social media star reproduced the throwback photo, squeezing her husband’s cheeks together during a family portrait.

Brittany not only shared awkward throwback images, but she also dressed her and Patrick in matching attire for date night. Brittany faced a barrage of trolling as a result of her constant posting about their relationship online. During an Instagram Q&A in August 2023, she was questioned about dealing with her detractors. “I could give two s***s about people’s opinions of me that don’t even know me,” Brittany said (via Sports Illustrated). NFL on Fox shared a TikTok video showed Patrick approaching his wife from behind when she was standing atop the team’s bus as it drove down the parade route. He began grinding on Brittany, and it took the former soccer player a moment to grasp what was going on. A few TikTok users quipped that while the discussion was awkward at first, the pair might have been in the mood to start a family.

Brittany was pouring a liquid into a water bottle, which contributed to her delay in noticing her husband thrusting behind her. “She’s mixing a drink, and he’s grinding on his wife?” one TikTok user asked. Not only did some fans find it uncomfortable to see the Mahomes of pelvic regions, but some also considered Brittany’s drinking habits were unsuitable for a mother. “Brittany Mahomes pouring alcohol into her water cup like a teenager heading to a music festival,” one X user said while uploading the footage. At the start of the video, the NFL player had his arm around Brittany, but then he removed it and appeared annoyed. In a longer version of the video, Brittany turned to her companions following the exchange and said something while making a silly face. As the video got viral, X users commented on the intense courtside altercation. “He simply took his arm away, and she transformed into a fish monster,” one user commented. “It’s unfortunate that he’s embarrassed by her like that. “He got uncomfortable and took his arm away the one time she wasn’t doing some bs,” said another.

The online talk sparked concern about the status of the Mahomes marriage. She put her arms around Patrick and buried a big kiss on his lips. ESPN aired the moment on their X feed, but many viewers were more interested in Patrick’s reaction.

Patrick turned around after receiving a kiss from his wife and instantly used his hand to wipe his mouth. Fans took note of the events. “And promptly wipes his mouth off,” an X user wrote. Several others pointed out that the Chiefs star was wiping off the red lipstick Brittany was wearing, not the kiss itself. “Should have left that red lipstick on. “It’s good luck,” another person wrote. While ESPN originally posted the video to emphasize the married couple’s embrace, the exchange was reshared on YouTube with Patrick wiping away the kiss. That wasn’t the only humiliating incident Brittany had with her spouse that season.

Brittany Mahomes was involved in a little dispute during one of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs’ highlights of the 2023-2024 season. She wore a custom black and white Chiefs trench coat, one of Brittany’s most insensitive game day ensembles, to the AFC Championship game versus the Baltimore Ravens. After the Chiefs won and advanced to the Super Bowl, Brittany escorted her husband down the tunnel at M&T Bank Stadium.

According to a TikTok post by the NFL on CBS, the couple kissed before parting ways. Brittany instantly turned around and glanced at a stadium staffer, making a circle motion with her finger to ask where to go. Several fans were upset because they believed the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model had not only abused the crew, but also made the situation about herself. “Mahomes’ wife needs to get off her high horse,” one TikTok user said. “She is too much… so extra,” another said.

Brittany appears to have learned about the outrage a few days later and chose to respond. Brittany responded to her critics with another Instagram Story post. “The fact that you’re bringing my name to tables where I don’t sit demonstrates your preoccupation. Stay bothered,” she wrote on February 1 (according the New York Post). That was just one of the many occasions Brittany faced criticism from fans that season.
