‘Could slip up’ – Hull City against Ipswich Town predictions

The72’s writers make their predictions for Hull City against Ipswich Town ahead of Saturday’s Championship fixture.

Hull City’s 3-2 win at Coventry City on Wednesday night keeps them in contention for the play-offs. Jaden Philogene, Fabio Carvalho, and Noah Ohio scored goals against the Sky Blues.

They are now 7th in the table, three points behind West Brom and Norwich City, with two games remaining. Liam Rosenior’s team would need to win both of their remaining games and hope their opponents fall up.

Hull City has had a strong season, regardless of whether they finish in the top six or not, and has made significant progress in recent seasons. They placed 15th last year.

Ipswich Town’s fate is in their own hands, and if they win their next two games, they will join the Premier League. Kieran McKenna has done an excellent job at Portman Road, yet his side was only promoted from League One last season.

The Tractor Boys have enjoyed a two-week holiday and will be eager to return to play. They are one point behind Leeds United in second place, with a game in hand.

Ipswich Town’s most recent game ended in a 1-1 draw at home against Middlesbrough. Massimo Luongo scored the goal.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

“I think Hull City could surprise a few here. They are unbeaten in their last five games and have been playing well recently.

“By the time they kick-off on Saturday night, the Tigers will know whether their season is over. They need West Brom and Norwich City not to win to stay alive.

“Ipswich Town are in for a tough game at the MKM Stadium and the pressure is on them. They are winless in their last three outings and will be focused on how Leeds United get on at QPR on Friday.

“I think Hull City have players who can hurt the Tractor Boys like Jaden Philogene and Fabio Carvalho and I think the visitors could slip up here”

Hull City vs Ipswich Town prediction: 2-1

James Ray

“This is definitely a potential banana skin for Ipswich Town. They’re in a position where dropping points could deal a big blow to their top two bid, but I don’t see them taking maximum points from this.

“Hull City have been performing well of late and while the fate of their play-off push is out of their hands, Liam Rosenior will be determined to get the most out of his group once more regardless.

“I think we’re in for a competitive game and the outcome could be damaging for the visitors. I’ll go for a 2-2 draw.”

Hull City vs Ipswich Town prediction: 2-2
