On Wednesday, the Indianapolis Colts announced that they have signed former first-round pick and wide receiver Laquon Treadwell while releasing wide out Xavier White to make room on the roster.

Over the Cap now has Treadwell’s contract details.

If he makes the roster, Treadwell will receive a base salary of $1.21 million this season. His cap hit will be $985,000, which is barely below $1 million. As expected, none of his deal is guaranteed, thus there are no salary cap implications if the Colts dismiss him.

Treadwell was the 23rd pick in the 2016 NFL draft by Minnesota. He played in 53 games for the Vikings over four seasons, catching 65 catches for 702 yards (10.8 YPC) and two touchdowns.

Treadwell has since bounced about, playing for four different teams in the last four seasons. In 2020, he was with Atlanta. In 2021, it was Jacksonville. Treadwell joined Seattle in 2022, then moved to Baltimore in 2023.

During that four-year period, Treadwell played in 28 games, catching 46 passes for 541 yards and three touchdowns. Of those 541 yards, 434 came from the Jaguars.

“[He’s] a really determined guy,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh stated last summer. “I want to be incredibly good. Physical practice, hard effort in the gym, and he came out here knowing exactly what he was doing after only being here for less than 24 hours. He did not make any mistakes out there. I believe that tells a lot about who he is.

The contract says it all, but GM Chris Ballard took a chance on a former first-round talent in an attempt to improve the competition on the back end of the receiving depth chart.

With Michael Pittman, AD Mitchell, Josh Downs, Alec Pierce, and Anthony Gould all healthy, as well as Ashton Dulin, a key special teams contributor, it’s possible that there won’t be a roster spot available at this position group. However, it will be determined by what happens on the field over the next few weeks.

In addition to what Treadwell does on offense, his contributions to special teams will most certainly be significant. Last season, he played 87 special teams snaps for the Ravens.
