Birmingham City have reportedly agreed to let one of their first-team players leave after receiving interest from several Championship clubs.

Chris Davies’ side has started the 2024/25 league season unbeaten since his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur, with Birmingham’s EFL Cup defeat to Fulham being their first loss of the season.

The League One club has had a busy summer window thus far, signing nearly a complete new first-team squad while losing Marc Roberts, Juninho Bacuna, and Jordan James on permanent contracts.

However, with the transfer window closing tomorrow, Birmingham City has given one of its first-team players permission to depart St. Andrews permanently.

Dembele granted exit

According to Birmingham World, Birmingham City has granted winger Siriki Dembele permission to leave the League One club before the transfer market ends at 11 p.m. tomorrow.

Dembele was a target for several Championship clubs this summer, including Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers, but the rumored amount was a stumbling block in his departure.

Fellow journalist Alan Nixon reported that Birmingham had set a £1.5 million price tag for Dembele among rivals, but added that a bid of £1 million plus extras would also be considered.

It remains to be seen whether any of the interested parties would make another bid for the winger now that he has requested permission to leave the football club.

How has he fared this season?

Dembele started the 2024/25 League One season in the starting lineup against Reading in a 1-1 tie on the opening day.

The 27-year-old has not played for Birmingham since and was left out of the team for their EFL Cup match against Fulham in midweek.

Birmingham also signed QPR striker Lyndon Dykes earlier this week, which could have influenced the decision to allow Dembele to depart.
