Colts WR Honest Confession Regarding First Year in NFL

Josh Downs, of the Indianapolis Colts, was one of the NFL’s quietly good rookie receivers in 2023.

He established himself to be a valuable and dangerous weapon for head coach Shane Steichen.

However, Downs just admitted that he left some plays on the field last year, according to Around The NFL.

“I have some minor improvements for route releases…”I left some plays on the field last year.”I’m trying to identify coverages better,” the former North Carolina Tar Heel said on the team’s official website this week.

Colts fans should enjoy a few aspects of this.

First and foremost, the young player’s humility is refreshing to watch.

Second, if Downs believes he still has a lot to improve on, the rest of the NFL is in big trouble.

Despite starting only nine games, he was targeted about 100 times.

He recorded 68 receptions for 771 yards and two touchdowns.

That also happened with multiple quarterbacks.

If he improves in year two, the Colts should make the playoffs.

With second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson projected to be fully healthy, All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor set to receive a full workload, and the Colts adding receiver AD Mitchell in the second round of the draft, Indy’s offense should be electrifying in 2024.

If Downs can make that leap and approach 1,000 yards receiving, this will be one of the top offenses in football.

Fans should keep an eye out for him throughout his second NFL season.

He has the potential to be really popular.
