Colts’ top running back will be back in Week 16

Indianapolis will try to cap off an outstanding season with their finest offensive player.

The Colts offense shown that it is simply not as explosive without star running back Jonathan Taylor. During last week’s difficult defeat to Cincinnati and Saturday’s triumph over Pittsburgh, the offense clearly missed their tailback. Indianapolis’ difficulties may be coming to an end, as they may be receiving an early Christmas present.

Colts’ Jonathan Taylor to be Cleared for Week 16

For a long time, I contended that running backs were overpriced and that it was outstanding offensive line performance that built offenses. As much as I believe my hypothesis, it is possible that it is not entirely correct in the case of Taylor, who can provide a significant boost to Indianapolis when he is healthy.

Taylor is almost ready to return to the field after missing three games due to a thumb injury that necessitated surgery. In his Sunday press conference, Indianapolis Head Coach Shane Steichen stated that Taylor’s recovery is going well and that the outstanding tailback could be in the starting lineup on Christmas Eve against the Atlanta Falcons.

“We’ll see how the week goes,” Steichen said. “He’s feeling good though.”

While Taylor is an irreplaceable spark for this offense, the squad has won six of its last seven games, including a convincing victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday. The Colts are forced to play without Taylor for the seventh time this season.

Taylor was injured against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 26th and underwent surgery three days later. Taylor has run for 414 yards and four touchdowns in five starts this season after missing the first four games due to a contract dispute. He had battled to gain momentum, but he was just getting into his stride when he got injured.
Taylor’s return would be ideal this week, as the offense is already without several key players, with backup running back Zack Moss out with a forearm injury and wide receiver Michael Pittman suffering a severe concussion after being hit by a Steelers defender this week.

The Colts, who are presently the seventh seed in the AFC, will look forward to continue their unlikely postseason run with Taylor’s return. They are tied with Cincinnati at 8-6 but lose the tie breaker owing to Taylor’s absence from last week’s game. Indianapolis will play on Christmas Eve against a struggling Atlanta club that is vying for the division title against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville has also been losing games recently as the playoffs approach.
