Colts To Trade For Talented Receiver

If Terry McLaurin, the star of the Washington Commanders, becomes available this offseason, the Indianapolis Colts must make a trade for him.

Terry McLaurin is the ideal candidate to replace the injured wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts. Currently playing for the Washington Commanders, McLaurin has not formally asked to be traded. It doesn’t follow, though, that the Commanders won’t try to move him this spring.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay speculated that Washington General Manager Adam Peters would trade veterans like Jonathan Allen in exchange for draft capital.

“While Washington has nine picks in the 2024 draft—four in the top 67—it could use more to overhaul a pockmarked lineup. Dealing veterans to free up salary-cap space and add more draft capital to the offers should be a priority for Peters. Due to this shift in focus, Jonathan Allen, the team’s standout defensive tackle, could be on the way out after seven seasons with the club.”

It is possible for the Commanders to carry out a comprehensive overhaul and offer McLaurin for trade. The Colts will need to come to an agreement if that occurs.

For the last four years, the 2023 Pro-Bowler has recorded 1,000 receiving yards. In the history of the team, he is the only player to have achieved the accomplishment.

McLaurin talked on another challenging season with the Commanders, who ultimately finished with a 4-13 record, after the team’s Week 17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers this season.

The Colts might be a team McLaurin would be interested in joining if the Commanders make him available or if he asks for a trade. Being from Indianapolis, it’s likely that he has always fantasized about being a member of his home team.

Unlike the 49ers, the Colts were obviously not a Super Bowl candidate this season since they finished 9-8 and missed the playoffs. However, with McLaurin in the lineup, they might become a top squad the following season.

Wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., a free agent, is anticipated to sign with Indianapolis again. The USC product caught 109 catches for 1,152 yards and four scores during an incredible season.

With McLaurin, Pittman, Josh Downs, and Alec Pierce, the Colts would have one of the best receiver groupings in the league. With running back Jonathan Taylor and quarterback Anthony Richardson, who is making a comeback from a shoulder surgery, Indianapolis may have a potent attack in 2024.
