Colts’ T.Y. Hilton is a proud dad as…

After narrowing his list, Eugene Hilton Jr. is set on becoming a Badger.

T.Y. Hilton was a beast for the Indianapolis Colts throughout his tenure with the team. The man was little, yet he instilled panic in opposing defenses as they appeared to lose sight of him time and again, earning him the nickname “The Ghost”. While on the team, he had the third-most receiving yards in franchise history, falling just short of 10,000. Not bad for a “who is that?” draft pick by many casual college football fans when the Colts took him from Florida International. Although his playing days are past, he continues to haunt the football world. This time, T.Y. is bringing his son.

Eugene Hilton Jr. is ready to take the next step, and his father supports him. I’d be shocked if T.Y. received as many offers as his son did coming out of high school, but he may have blazed the way, since Hilton Jr. received numerous, according to ESPN.

Hilton, a standout at Indiana’s Zionsville Community High School, held offers from Georgia, Michigan, Missouri and Miami, among others, but gave his verbal pledge to the Badgers seven days after he took an official visit to Wisconsin on June 7

The Badgers may be a rival for our Indiana state institutions, but I believe we can all respect his efforts to reach this stage and be proud of T.Y. If we can find even a quarter of the excitement of the grinning father, I believe we’ll be on the right course.

While Hilton Jr.’s deal is unlikely to have any impact on the vast majority of us, I enjoy watching Colts icons live their life. When someone has played for a franchise for so long, it is difficult not to root for them both on and off the field. I really want Reggie Wayne to succeed as receivers coach. His time as a player has given me a stronger emotional connection to Wayne the person. The same applies to T.Y. and his family.

Yes, the Hilton name lives on in football. Will Eugene Hilton Jr. be talented enough to go pro? No idea. If he does, expect many of the same conversations that erupted after Marvin Harrison Jr. graduated from Ohio State. I doubt the Colts would have to trade up to four to get him, but supporters would love to see another ghost on the Lucas Oil sidelines.
