Colts signed a former Saints starter and two others to contracts

The Indianapolis Colts are continuing to make moves to bolster critical positions on their roster as the offseason in 2024 approaches.

The Indianapolis Colts have signed reserve/future contracts with safeties Kendell Brooks, Michael Tutsie, and former New Orleans Saints starting guard Lewis Kidd.

Brooks is a former Michigan State Spartan who spent time as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals in 2023. While he began his undergraduate career at North Greenville University, he spent the majority of his time as a cornerback for Michigan State, where he recorded 109 tackles, four pass defenses, and three forced fumbles.

Tutsie’s name may be familiar to Colts fans, since he was an undrafted free agent from North Dakota State last season. He was an energetic part of the Bison, compiling an outstanding career of 338 tackles, 22 pass defenses, 11 interceptions, and 68 games as a safety. Another truth is that he attended Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, thus he is well-versed with the franchise.

After how poor Rodney Thomas II appeared in his sophomore season as a free safety in 2023, Brooks and Tutsie’s contracts could add additional competition to Indy’s safety position.

Finally, Kidd, there’s the guard. The former Montana State Bobcat spent last season on Indy’s practice squad before being dismissed two months later in mid-December. Kidd played for the Saints in 2022, and he even got a chance to start. With offensive line depth being so vital, this is a wise decision to continue bolstering protection for a rookie quarterback like Anthony Richardson into his second season.
