Colts Scout Sends 4-Word Message to WR in Rave Review

There are several different perspectives on the Indianapolis Colts’ 2024 second-round pick, wide receiver Adonai Mitchell.

But what Colts area scout Anthony Coughlan had to say about Mitchell is worth reading because it provides insight into how the organization’s evaluators saw their new pass catcher.

That was how Coughlan began his appraisal of Mitchell before delving deeper into the Texas product on April 27.

“He thinks he belongs. He has talent, and he knows it. He works. “This dude believes he belongs,” Coughlan said, as reported by the Indianapolis Star. “He enrolled as a freshman at Georgia. Throughout his career at two colleges, he has made key plays in huge games. He has no lack of confidence. It is vital for receivers. It is necessary for all positions. You must be aware that you belong.

“He’ll be pretty versatile, just like he was at Texas. He is a man who can pose a serious threat. He can run intermediate routes. This is a large guy. He weighs 205 pounds and ran a 4.38. He’s a multi-dimensional menace with good route running abilities. He’s not only a deep-ball, 50/50. I believe he can threaten you on several levels. We’re quite happy to have his talent in here.”

Adonai Mitchell Brings Clutch Factor to Indy

Along with his athletic abilities, Coughlan claims Mitchell has a penchant for creating plays when they are most required.

“Our director, Matt Terpening, always says, ‘This guy’s clutch.'” He says this regarding specific players. (Mitchell) possesses the gene. He simply makes plays. “There are countless games,” Coughlan told the Indianapolis Star. “Terp and I were at the Kansas State game, and he was catching deep shots. You may watch the Alabama game. It’s primetime in Tuscaloosa, and he’s catching some deep bombs. The guy has genuine talent. I’m quite excited to get him into this building.

“This guy traveled to Georgia. He began as a freshman. I’m not sure if it’s necessarily a chip. This guy understands he has talent. He knows he’s an NFL player. Obviously, he came out early, but when you produce as a freshman at Georgia and at Lucas Oil Stadium versus Alabama and Texas, playing in Tuscaloosa, he knows he has something to offer. You need to have that. At this stage, you must believe in yourself and your ability to do great things.

Adonai Mitchell is Ready to Make Anthony Richardson’s Life Easier

Mitchell told the reporters after day two of the Draft that he doesn’t want second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson to be concerned when he throws the ball his way.

“I believe that as a quarterback, you always strive to be ideal. “Throw the perfect pass, make the perfect read,” Mitchell stated during his press conference. “I don’t want my quarterback to be under so much pressure, given my abilities. If you need to toss it a little high, I don’t mind; just throw it in the region. Nobody’s coming down with it but me.”
