Colts’ safety has been downgraded to ‘out’ due to a shoulder injury

The Colts will be without their influential starting safety for the rest of the game against the Atlanta Falcons on the road.

Julian Blackmon of the Indianapolis Colts has been downgraded to out after suffering a shoulder injury during Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons:

Injury update: S Julian Blackmon (shoulder) has been downgraded to out.

After hitting Atlanta Falcons running back Cordarrelle Patterson on a 3rd and 14th reception early in the second quarter, Blackmon was injured and did not return.

Second-year safety with the Indianapolis Colts Blackmon was first replaced by Nick Cross.

During 14 starts this season, Blackmon has 87 tackles (65 solo), 5 tackles for loss, 4 interceptions, 8 passes defensed, and two fumble recoveries.

Blackmon enjoyed a career year for the Colts and is nearing the end of his deal.

He’s been one of the Colts’ lesser-known secondary defenders, and maybe he’ll be back on the field soon—in time for a late-season playoff push:
