Colts rule out TE Kylen Granson and two more against the Saints

For Sunday’s home game against the New Orleans Saints, the Indianapolis Colts have ruled out tight end Kylen Granson, right tackle Braden Smith, and rookie cornerback JuJu Brents.

After the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the team 37–20 on October 15, Granson was placed in the concussion protocol and missed practice on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. He did not play against Cleveland last week.

Granson, 25, has caught 16 catches for 170 yards and one touchdown while playing in six games, starting two of them. Granson, an SMU graduate who the Colts selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, with 58 career receptions for 578 yards and one score in 36 games (six starts).

Smith sustained wrist and hip ailments this week, which kept him out of the last two games and all of practice.

Although Smith, 27, has started each of the five games he’s played so far this season, he hasn’t been in a game since the Tennessee Titans victory on October 8th, 23-16. After being selected by the Colts in the second round of the 2018 draft out of Auburn, he has started 75 of 77 games.

Coach Shane Steichen of the Colts stated on Friday that he doesn’t think Brents’ quadriceps injury will keep him out of action for too long. Brents suffered during the Browns’ 39-38 defeat. Brents, 23, a Kansas State product selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, has started four of the team’s five games so far this year. He has forced one fumble, one interception, and twenty-four tackles.
