Colts Respond to Study Conclusions, Wild Card Weekend

How are Colts fans reacting to one of the coldest wild card weekends in recent memory?

While their team is no longer participating this season, Indianapolis Colts fans have spoken out on wild card weekend—though perhaps through freezing teeth, as extreme cold strikes almost 100 million Americans this week.

Despite last weekend’s heartbreaking loss in the final minutes (in which 71% of Colts fans agreed with the controversial 4th-and-1 call that culminated in a Tyler Goodson drop), and missing the playoffs, 87% of Colts fans believe the team is on the right track:

It also makes sense, given that no one thought the Colts would be in contention for a postseason spot late in the season, let alone win the AFC South. This is a squad that was widely anticipated to finish in the bottom five of the league power rankings at the start of the season. While the Colts have skill on both sides of the ball, the head coaching and quarterback tandem of Shane Steichen and Anthony Richardson is the reason for the team’s current optimism.

Colts fans are already focusing (and looking forward to) the early offseason (86%, to be exact), where Indianapolis has the 15th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and a projected $55.8M in available team salary cap space (and could take advantage of Richardson being on a rookie quarterback contract):

The Colts have open spots at wide receiver, tight end, edge rusher, cornerback, and safety, among others. However, given the few options available, most Colts supporters (38%) believe that wide receiver is the best route to take in this year’s mid-first round—especially with such a good class atop:
