Colts Receiver Finds His Way To Active Roster

The Indianapolis Colts have promoted wide receiver Ethan Fernea from the practice squad to the active roster in advance of Saturday’s home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Colts posted on X: “We have elevated WR Ethan Fernea to the active roster from the practice squad.”

Along with Fernea, the Colts re-signed guard Arlington Hambright off the practice squad after earlier dismissing him.

This comes after the Colts promoted fellow wide receiver D.J. Montgomery from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. These moves demonstrate that the Colts do not want any depth concerns heading into a crucial game against the Steelers.

It also implies that one of these players, presumably Fernea, will be on special teams in some way to assist on that side of the ball.

While Fernea has only played one NFL game in his career, he has seen plenty of the Colts’ tactics and is completely prepared for whatever is in store for him.

Whatever Fernea’s function is, it is for a good reason, given that the game is only a day away. The Colts’ entire postseason aspirations are dependent on the outcome of this game versus the Steelers.

Can the Colts break their losing streak versus Pittsburgh (eight in a row since 2011)? The game at Lucas Oil Stadium will be crucial for both clubs.
