Colts Re-Sign O-Lineman for Contract Extension

The Indianapolis Colts have signed a veteran offensive player to a contract extension.

The Indianapolis Colts have extended a veteran offensive player.

No, it is not Michael Pittman Jr., who was franchise tagged by the Colts on Tuesday and will be retained for the 2024 season.

The veteran is center Jack Anderson, who adds depth to an offensive line that responded well in 2023.

While keeping a pass-catcher like Pittman is critical, the offensive line must also have dependable and experienced depth. Anderson may not be a household name or a big-time starter, but he has enough NFL experience to be an effective backup in the trenches.

During his three-year career, the former Texas Tech Red Raider has played both guard and center. He’s also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants.

This demonstrates that other teams in the league respected his presence on their depth charts.

Anderson, who has played 15 games since 2021, will provide different blocking for an Indianapolis club that struggled while its starters were injured.

With quarterback Anthony Richardson developing and recovering from significant surgery on his throwing shoulder, it’s critical to keep as many veterans as possible to shield him in case of injury and another guard has to come in.

The former seventh-round pick is listed as a center, behind Pro Bowler Ryan Kelly and backup Wesley French. As the combine concludes and the draft approaches in less than two months, expect the Colts to continue making roster alterations.
