Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson’s surgically repaired right throwing shoulder appears to be back to 100%—but Indianapolis may still limit his initial workload.
According to his head coach Shane Steichen, Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Anthony Richardson is in excellent physical condition and is expected to participate in OTAs later next month—though he will be eased back into a full workload.

The continuous health reports on Richardson, who is recovering from season-ending shoulder surgery on his right throwing shoulder, have been nothing short of positive this early offseason—which is fantastic news for Colts fans.
So far, showing no limitations with either his right shoulder’s range of motion or having lost any miles per hour from his ‘best football fastball,’ Richardson looks all the way back.

That being said, the Colts will be cautious with their latest franchise quarterback candidate, having already learned the hard way with Andrew Luck’s surprising retirement in 2019 due to lingering injuries and rigorous rehabilitation.

The Colts must consider the next ten years with Richardson, not just the next ten months, which is why shutting him down in the middle of a potential playoff season last year made the most sense for both parties, especially given his long-term health and critical importance to the franchise’s future success.
However, the latest status updates regarding Richardson’s progress have been highly, highly encouraging—and it appears we may see him on the football field without any restrictions, much sooner rather than later.
