Colts lead 17–7 on a Derek Carr error

In the second quarter, the Colts defense gave the offense excellent field position, and it paid off with a 10-point advantage.

With less than 12 minutes remaining in the first half, Zack Moss scored a touchdown on a 30-yard pass by diving into the end zone from a yard out. With that score, the Colts led 17–7.

Daye Odeyingbo of the Colts recovered the ball that Saints quarterback Derek Carr lost due to a DeForest Buckner sack. A review confirmed that the ruling was upheld after a Gardner Minshew ball to Josh Downs on the sideline for a first down was contested as being out of bounds.

A facemask penalty on the next play gave the Colts another first down and they were able to punch the ball in a few plays later.

Minshew had hobbled off the field at the conclusion of the team’s last drive, but after returning to the game, he displayed no symptoms of an injury.
