Colts are expected to sign the Super Bowl champion for $65 million in free agency

The Indianapolis Colts are expected to address their cornerback position in free agency, since it is a key priority for the team.

CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin predicts that Super Bowl champion and cornerback L’Jarius Sneed will sign with Indianapolis in his free agency mock draft.Start time set for Indianapolis Colts' regular season finale against the Houston Texans | Fox 59

“With Chris Jones set to cost the Chiefs a pretty penny, Sneed figures to sneak onto the market,” noted Benjamin on February 26.

“The Colts, meanwhile, are eager to inject some proven playmaking into their secondary, making him their No. 1 cover man.”Sneed, 27, joined the NFL as a fourth-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020.

Sneed, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 192 pounds, has emerged as a versatile player for Kansas City defensive coach Steve Spagnuolo.

He can cover perimeter receivers, drop into the slot, and is one of the league’s greatest blitzing corners. During the 2023 season, Sneed was entrusted with shadowing some of the NFL’s finest receivers, and he succeeded.

He held Tyreek Hill (8-62 in Week 9, 5-62-1 in the AFC Wild-Card Round), Justin Jefferson (3-28 in Week 5), A.J. Brown (1-8 in Week 10), and Brandon Aiyuk (3-49 in the 2024 Super Bowl) in check throughout their respective games.

Despite being overlooked as an All-Pro last season, Sneed is an All-Pro type player, which is why he is expected to cash in this offseason. Sneed is valued at $65 million for a four-year contract, as computed by Spotrac.
