Cleveland Browns are linked to explosive wide receiver amid wild free agency rumors

The Cleveland Browns are not the first team that comes to mind when you think about offensive brilliance. With Myles Garrett leading the club, it’s obvious that Kevin Stefanski designed the team around his star defensive end’s strengths.

However, you cannot win football games until you score points. This issue was cruelly highlighted when the Browns lost to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round. The carousel of quarterbacks they had to go through while Deshaun Watson was out is an obvious issue, but the lack of a capable wideout also harmed their prospects.

As a result, the Cleveland Browns would benefit from finding a strong wide receiver to help their ailing passing game. There have already been reports linking them to one interesting name in free agency.

The Cleveland Browns might get Gabe Davis away from Spencer German of Sports Illustrated discussed the Browns’ offseason maneuvers, including the potential signing of Buffalo Bills receiver Gabe Davis.

Davis appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the Bills, totaling 746 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns at 16.6 yards per carry. While his numbers from last season were not as amazing as his 2022 total, he still demonstrates that he is a talented wideout who can catch passes for whichever quarterback lines up under center next season.

However, German added a proviso to Gabe Davis’ performance. He believes that his 2023 stats are not as amazing as they initially appear:

To date, his career has been distinguished by inconsistent feast or famine performances. That may not make him worth the large salary he will receive on the free market, which is one of the main reasons I believe the Browns will turn elsewhere – most likely to the trade market – to find a WR.

It will be difficult for them to find a 24-year-old who is searching for a large salary on a decent contract. However, if the Browns are successful, he will be a valuable addition to their attack.
