Chris Davies makes first ‘important’ Birmingham City transfer admission

Birmingham City’s new manager, Chris Davies, has revealed his recruitment objectives ahead of the upcoming transfer season.

The Welshman already has a plan in place, just days after signing a four-year contract to succeed Tony Mowbray in the St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park dugout.

Davies, who was signed from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed compensation amount, is looking forward to his first genuine managing opportunity. The Blues took a risk in employing Davies, but it could pay off handsomely.

The 39-year-old has worked for a number of famous clubs, including Liverpool, Celtic, and Leicester City, but never as the main man. Instead, he has served as a deputy to Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou, being closely involved but out of the spotlight.

Transfers are one aspect of management that Davies is eager to go into. He has never had much of a voice at past clubs, so here is a fantastic opportunity for him to take the lead.

Following their relegation to League One, Birmingham must address their transfer market issues quickly. Returning to the Championship at the first opportunity will only be achievable if the business is run sensibly.

Davies emphasizes the importance of Birmingham’s transfer moves, knowing that they could be the deciding factor in the club’s forthcoming season. “Recruitment is critical, especially since we have quite a few positions to fill,” the new manager told Blues TV.

“It’s critical that we execute our task quietly and clearly, with the appropriate personalities. It’s critical that anyone we bring in fits the culture we’re trying to build here, both on and off the pitch,” Davies explained.

Brighton swoop could kick-start Birmingham’s transfer window

The Blues are allegedly one of three clubs in the running to capture Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Marc Leonard. The 22-year-old just finished a successful second year on loan with Northampton Town, scoring five goals and assisting six in 46 League One games.

Birmingham will face stiff competition from Oxford United and Wrexham, who are also in advanced talks. Sheffield United, Preston North End, Portsmouth, Plymouth Argyle, and Stoke City have all been connected in recent months.
