Chris Davies confessed Birmingham City had an injury concern during their 1-1 draw with Reading.

Willum Willumsson, a summer addition, underwent treatment early in the second half and was forced to leave with around 40 minutes remaining. Luke Harris, a Fulham loanee, took his place as number 10 behind Alfie May.

“He’d had a knock on his knee and had been struggling with it a little last week,” Davies told the Birmingham World after the game.

“I believe it hardened and worsened after halftime, and he was unable to continue. “I haven’t heard any updates on that, though,” Davies said.

Lee Buchanan and Alfie Chang were the only two players sidelined at the start of the new season, so Birmingham will be hoping Willumsson is not added to that list.

Any major injury would add to Blues’ anguish as they struggled to get out of first gear until late in Saturday evening’s Sky Bet League One opener.

May scored an 87th-minute penalty to earn a point in Davies’ competitive management debut, but it was not the all-star performance many expected.
