Chiefs have perfect opportunity to land ex first-round receiver

Depending on who you ask, the Chiefs may still have a wide receiver void despite signing Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown and picking Xavier Worthy in the first round.

Rashee Rice may be suspended to begin the season, leaving Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney, and Justin Watson with significant roles in a season in which Kansas City hopes to win its third Super Bowl in a row.

That’s what makes recent claims out of Tennessee so intriguing, as it appears that the Titans are ready to move on from 2022 first-round selection Treylon Burks after only two seasons.

Chiefs Should Consider Acquiring Titans WR Treylon Burks

Brett Veach is notorious for taking low-risk gambles with former high selection picks, and Burks could be his next reclamation project. The former Arkansas standout has suffered with injuries, but he appears to be available at a moderate cost.

These are the types of measures that have allowed the Chiefs to stay ahead of the competition. Burks hasn’t done much in the NFL yet, but he’s a good size for the position at 6’2″ and 225 pounds, with a propensity for making contested catches.

Burks has a lifetime average of 13.6 yards per catch, despite being a victim of the Titans’ QB room. His ability to compete for catches down the field is exactly what the Chiefs have lacked in recent years.

Brett Veach should seriously consider acquiring him for a late draft pick, especially considering the Chiefs’ potential extra picks as a result of the compensatory formula.

Burks could be the missing piece for this team. If things don’t work out, there’s no shame in cutting bait before the conclusion of his contract. If things work out, you’ll have a first-round talent at a significant bargain.
