Chiefs defender receives major honor on 2024 ‘All-Underrated’ Team

As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to attempt a three-peat during the 2024 NFL season, every other club in the league has set a target on their back.

However, the Chiefs must be pleased with their offseason accomplishments.

Patrick Mahomes was the greatest winner this offseason. After struggling with his wide receivers in 2023, the Chiefs signed Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Xavier Worthy. Rashee Rice also received excellent off-the-field news, as no charges were filed against him for one of his significant blunders.

Looking ahead to the 2024 season, the Chiefs are well-positioned to challenge for a third consecutive championship.

All being said, one of the Kansas City Chiefs’ defenders has been nominated to the “All-Underrated Team.”

According to Bleacher Report, linebacker Leo Chenal is one of the most underestimated players entering the 2024 NFL season.

“There is some concern over Chenal’s usage, as he was mostly considered as a downhill option entering the league. Despite this, the 250-pound defender is a tremendous athlete. According to Pro Football Network’s Kent Lee Platte, Chenal’s relative athletic score has rated third among all linebackers over the last 37 years. While a larger and more powerful ‘backer, the third-year pro excels at zone coverage. He’s simply not as agile in covering faster choices in space. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo can mitigate this by keeping Chenal in a hybrid role in which he rushes the quarterback in certain packages.”

Chenal is very deserving of such distinction. He has performed admirably in his first two NFL seasons and is poised for an even larger role and higher numbers in 2024.

Chenal finished the 2023 season with the Kansas City Chiefs with 65 total tackles, three sacks, and one defended pass.

Chenal, at only 23 years old, has enormous future potential. For those who believe the Chiefs’ defense is lacking, these are the players that are often overlooked. These are the players who have propelled them to two consecutive Super Bowls.

It will be intriguing to see what the 2024 season holds for the Kansas City Chiefs and Chenal. He is getting some preseason excitement, and properly so. Fans may anticipate Chenal to have a great breakout season this year.
