The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for another run at the Super Bowl.

After making it to the season’s last game in four of the last five years and winning the last two in a row, it’s fair to wonder how motivated the team will be to go on another long journey.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has already piqued fans’ interest with a short but beautiful message only days before training camp, while Travis Kelce will soon end his European adventure with Taylor Swift. While the players prepare mentally for what is to come, their courageous leader is already establishing the tone off the field.

Andy Reid holding all Chiefs players accountable before training camp

During an appearance with The Athletic’s Scoop City podcast, head coach Andy Reid discussed what he expects from the club as it prepares for training camp.

‘Training camp is kind of that proving ground. If you’re not ready to go, it’s going to be obvious quickly. Just from whether it’s a conditioning test or the long drive drills that we do. Those things that are, you’re going to find out who’s in and who’s not in and who’s put their time.’

Reid was asked about Mahomes and Kelce spending so much of their offseason time traveling around the world and putting their popularity to use, and he said, “I’m fine with it as long as they’re ready to go.”

Reid does not care who you are; he treats everyone on the team equally and holds them all accountable. There’s a reason he’s accomplished so much with the franchise thus far.
