Chelsea wonder kid will stay in Ipswich Town next season in one condition – Opinion

Omari Hutchinson, a loan winger at Ipswich Town, has improved dramatically this season, becoming into a great star for Kieran McKenna.

Ipswich Town signed Hutchinson from Chelsea last summer on a season-long contract. It was his first step into regular first-team play, and he was very impressed.

The 20-year-old hasn’t always been the first name on the team sheet, having made 24 of his 36 Championship games as a substitute. However, he has been playing more recently, and his five goals and three assists in the last nine league games have amply justified his increased minutes.

Overall, the Chelsea loanee has eight goals and six assists in 42 appearances. In the process, he’s established himself in the senior game after flourishing in junior football, and after excelling with a squad battling for the Championship title, Hutchinson’s only way is up.

You have to believe he’ll be playing top-tier football next season. And, if Ipswich Town wins promotion, they could be the ideal club for him to make the move up.

The main condition

You have to feel promotion will be important in any bid to keep Hutchinson.

He’s a top talent, and if Chelsea intends to keep him, they should put him to the test in top-flight football. Perhaps a move to another Premier League or European team would be preferable, but if Ipswich Town is promoted, a summer loan return could be ideal.

Hutchinson is already settled on Portman Road. He is familiar with the group and the demands of manager Kieran McKenna, so he would be able to get right back into life with the Tractor Boys, rather than having to spend time adjusting to a new club and establishing himself to a new boss.

As previously said, Ipswich Town’s promotion could have a significant impact. They are currently in third place, two points behind new leaders Leeds United and one behind Leicester City, who have a game in hand following their FA Cup involvement at the weekend.

Hutchinson has refused to reveal what awaits him this summer.

But, if Ipswich Town are to go up, they could be the perfect place for Hutchinson to continue his development.
