CB Discusses Possible Position Conversion at NFL Combine

The University of Georgia’s cornerbacks haven’t done much navigating in the Kirby Smart-led Bulldog defense.

The left corner remains the same, as does the right corner, and they are rarely rotated. When they land a job, they stick with it until they are fired. That was true for the majority of Kamari Lassiter’s defensive career. He has been one of Athens’ two starting cornerbacks the last two seasons, and he is widely regarded as one of the top pure cover cornerbacks in college football over the last 24 months.

Now, as Lassiter prepares to visit with more than a dozen NFL teams in Indianapolis, a position change could be on the way. Lassiter claims that the bulk of the organizations he’s spoken with have mentioned playing nickel cornerback at the next level.

Georgia fans may recall that one of the greatest coaching changes of the season for the 2023 Georgia Bulldogs was putting Lassiter into the slot to cover Missouri Luther Burden.

Burden was one of college football’s most productive receivers, but he was limited to one reception in the game due to Lassiter’s coverage. It’s a game footage that Lassiter claims numerous NFL teams have mentioned to him here in Indianapolis.
