Carson Beck has the chance to set numerous Georgia records in 2024

This past December, Georgia signed the top recruiting class in the country, but Kirby Smart’s biggest recruiting coup this summer was convincing Carson Beck to return for his senior season.

In just 14 games, Beck completed 3,941 yards of passing with the highest level of efficiency of any quarterback in Georgia history. Georgia’s schedule is as difficult as any in the nation, with trips to Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss; therefore, having a seasoned signal-caller was essential.

Now that Georgia has at least 12 more games remaining, and maybe as many as 17, under its belt, Beck has the opportunity to go close to the top of the school’s record books. Here are a few of such attainable marks.

TOP 5 IN CAREER PASSING YARDS

Beck might easily break into the top 5, but no one will ever surpass Aaron Murray’s 13,166 career passing yards, which still remains as the SEC record. In 2023, Beck gained 303 yards per game on average. In 2024, if he can reach that total in 12 games during the regular season and one bowl game, he will pass Jake Fromm (8,224) for sixth place. Not too far beyond that is Stetson Bennett’s eighth-place score of 8,429 points.

CAREER PASSER RATING (MIN 100+ ATTEMPTS)

Beck had a really productive season last year. His 9.6 yards per try put him in sixth place in the country. Beck has a lifetime passer rating of 166.9. That is the only quarterback record from Georgia that is behind JT Daniels (168.1). Beck can take first place if he can find the endzone more often.

CAREER COMPLETION PERCENTAGE

In terms of career completion %, Daniels is now ranked second only behind Carson Beck. Daniels left Athens with a 69.5 lifetime total, while Beck has an incredible 71.2 career total. Beck has an excellent opportunity of maintaining his position atop the rankings with a strong receiving corps back.

SINGLE SEASON PASSING YARDS

A record-breaking 2022 season for Stetson Bennett is attainable. During Georgia’s 15-0 march to the national championship, Bennett passed for 4,127 yards. Beck can definitely make it with the 12-team playoff format now in place. Beck only participated in 13 games in 2023, but his 3,941 yards from that season rank second all-time. The protégé is definitely a strong contender for this position.
