Cardinals rule out WR and two others for Week 16 game against Bears

The Arizona Cardinals wide receivers room will be missing at least one pair of hands this week, as head coach Jonathan Gannon ruled out Hollywood Brown for the team’s game against the Chicago Bears on Friday.

In addition, before Friday’s practice, the head coach ruled out cornerbacks Garrett Williams and Bobby Price.

“Hollywood isn’t going anywhere,” Gannon declared on Friday. “Garrett isn’t going… and Bobby Price isn’t going.”

Despite a chronic heel ailment that has hampered his production, Arizona’s No. 1 receiving option will miss the first game of the season in Week 16.

The wideout has had a less-than-ideal contract year, finishing second among Cardinals pass catchers in receiving yards (574) and receptions (51) to tight end Trey McBride (712 yards on 66 grabs). Brown is still the leader in receiving touchdowns (four).

With Brown out, youngster Michael Wilson and Rondale Moore should see more playing time in the offense.

While Brown has already been ruled out, Greg Dortch, another injured pass catcher, has not been ruled out.

Dortch, like Brown, missed the first two days of practice due to a shoulder injury.

Gannon expects the wide receiver to return to practice on Friday, bringing the streak to an end.

“Dortch will be out there today, kind of seeing where he’s at,” he said. “He’s trending in the right direction.”

Dortch has proven important in the return game in addition to his usage in the receiving game.

If he is unable to go, Moore may be relied upon to take on a larger job on special teams.

Outside linebacker Victor Dimukeje (foot) could also be available on Sunday, according to Gannon.
