One of the top young pitchers in baseball is allegedly available for St. Louis to sign this winter.

It is undoubtedly a possibility. With the addition of Sonny Gray, Kyle Gibson, and Lance Lynn as starting pitchers this summer, St. Louis has already significantly enhanced the team. They might have stopped adding pitches at this time, but anything might still happen.

Free agency won’t be added by St. Louis, but a trade is always a possibility. The Cardinals could soon make trades because they have an abundance of young outfield talent. Dylan Cease, the top pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, is apparently of interest to St. Louis, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports.

“Cease, who finished second in the AL Cy Young race two years ago, still has two years of control before he’s a free agent and earned just $5.7 million last season,” Nightengale stated. “According to MLB Trade Rumors, he will receive $8.8 million in salary arbitration this year. The Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis, Atlanta Braves, and Los Angeles Dodgers are all vying for him for a reason. The White Sox are informing teams that they won’t be moving him quickly until the free agent landscape clears up.
