Candid remarks by an Ohio State rookie prompt the quiet removal of…

“Ohio State Doesn’t Really Like To Pay Guys A Whole Lot” An Ohio State athlete’s candid remarks lead the silent removal of a podcast interview.

In the days leading up to Ohio State’s Cotton Bowl game against the Missouri Tigers, starting center Carson Hinzman gave an incredibly candid podcast interview, providing insights on the state of the Buckeye football program under head coach Ryan Day. However, the podcast inexplicably vanished shortly after it was released, and Hinzman was forced to sit out the Cotton Bowl.

Hinzman appeared on “The B&B Podcast” about ten days before the Cotton Bowl, revealing information that Ohio State may not have wanted made public. He said that the squad had much less sessions leading up to the Cotton Bowl than the previous year, replacing them with “light workouts.” Hinzman reportedly claimed that the Miami Hurricanes made big cash offers to former Ohio State pledges Justin Scott and Jordan Lyle. Furthermore, he claimed that Ohio State was not very liberal with NIL payments, notably for offensive linemen, who “don’t get paid” much.

Hinzman noticed parallels between Day’s current program culture and that of former head coach Urban Meyer. Meyer’s sessions and workouts, he claims, were more physically demanding. During practice, he openly talked on-field battles and expressed discontent with his current strength and fitness goals.

The podcast gained popularity among Ohio State supporters on social media before inexplicably disappearing from YouTube and Amazon a few days after its initial publication on December 20, though it was still available on Listen Notes.

The podcast’s deletion raised eyebrows, implying that someone was dissatisfied with its substance. The narrative developed during the Cotton Bowl, when Hinzman did not play a single snap after starting all 12 regular-season games. Matt Jones, the former starting right guard, took over at center, with senior Enokk Vimahi filling in at right guard.

While the timing may appear to be coincidental, Coach Ryan Day attributed Hinzman’s absence to recent practice issues. “Carson was having a tough time the last couple of weeks of practice, and we felt this was the right thing to do at the time,” Day said after the game. Carson will not never play here again, but based on the last few weeks of performance, it was decided that Matt provided us the greatest chance at center.”

While Jones’ presence at center wasn’t wholly surprising given Hinzman’s previous troubles, the extent of his play throughout the game, as well as Ohio State’s lack of adjustments despite a dismal offensive line performance, gave a dimension of intrigue to the scenario. Whether or not Hinzman’s benching is truly unrelated to his honest podcast, the circumstances are intriguing.
