BYU football has a new playing field at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The original grass will be sprayed with a fresh design.

On Monday, BYU revealed its new field design for the 2024 season.

BYU football gets an updated midfield logo

BYU will feature a royal blue oval and a white stretch Y logo at midfield. Last season, BYU featured a white oval and a royal blue stretch Y.

BYU shared a mockup of the design on their official X account.

The midfield logo had its unofficial debut in EA Sports College Football 25. Later, on Monday, BYU announced it would be on the field this autumn.

Paying tribute to the 100th season

BYU’s endzones are the same as previous season, with royal blue paint and block lettering spelling out B-Y-U. The sole addition to the endzones is BYU’s 100th season emblem.

This fall will mark BYU’s 100th season. In 1922, they began playing on the gridiron.

BYU’s prior playing surface resulted in considerable slippage late in the season. BYU players struggled to keep upright during their home games against Iowa State and Oklahoma.

New playing surface

During the ESPN coverage of the Senior Day game against Oklahoma, analyst Louis Riddick discussed it extensively.

The BYU football team did not have access to LES during spring practice. For the first time since 2011, BYU has constructed a new playing field inside LaVell Edwards Stadium.

Along with a new playing field, LaVell Edwards Stadium will have new LED lights that change colors to improve the game-day experience.
