Burnley star needed by rival during the transfer has his contract expires in June

Josh Brownhill, a midfielder for Burnley, was a target for Leeds United during the summer transfer window.

However, Brownhill decided to stay with Vincent Kompany’s team and has since led the Clarets in the Premier League.

Brownhill, 27, is almost four years into his career with the Lancashire team. In 48 games for Burnley last season, he contributed to 17 goals. His contribution to Burnley’s promotion back to the Premier League was significant.

In the summer, TeamTalk reported that Brownhill was being pursued by several clubs, including Leeds. It was also rumored that Everton, Leicester, Wolves, Boro, and Palace have expressed interest. Next June, Burnley’s contract will expire.

It’s possible that Brownhill still departs from Burnley at the conclusion of the season, which would still entice Leeds to make a move either then or before. However, he still plays a crucial role for Burnley.

So much so that in seven of Burnley’s 12 Premier League games this season, Brownhill has led the team. In fact, he has assisted on three goals across all competitions, including two in the premier league.

Leeds wanted Josh Brownhill in summer; Captaining Burnley now

Signing Brownhill would have been a fantastic move. If there’s one flaw in this Leeds team, it would be the absence of a natural number ten. Right now, Joel Piroe—a striker—plays in that position.

While Leeds was unable to finalize a deal with Nadiem Amiri, Matt O’Riley, or Kenny McLean during the summer transfer window, it was evident that Daniel Farke believed Leeds was shorthanded in the no. 10 position.

Neither is Brownhill a natural 10. However, if he could achieve an eight, that would negate the need for a ten. Brownhill has a ten from deep in terms of his ability to score from a distance. He would be a great addition.
